Visit Qatar - A New Travel App That Helps You To Explore More

Gone are the days when you had to visit a travel agent for all your holiday needs or even sit in front of your home computer to plan and book your vacations. These days all you need is a smartphone. Booking flights to and from your desired location, as well as accommodation, transportation and reservations for attractions, events, restaurants, etc., for when you get there, can all be achieved by a few finger swipes.

There are plenty of travel apps out there offering to help you book and manage the logistics of your trip, save you time and money and take the stress out of planning your next adventure. Many more can help you navigate your chosen destination - whether that be the city streets or the climate, the currency, the language, the culture and customs, the top attractions or the hidden gems - before you even set foot on foreign soil. 

In the Middle East, the hottest new tourist destination Qatar is following the trend. The country’s national tourism agency (Qatar National Tourism Council) has just launched its own personalised travel companion app, Visit Qatar. The new application is designed to be an immersive online experience that inspires visitors to travel to Qatar and plan their time during their visit to the country.

The Visit Qatar App

From the palm of your hand, the new Visit Qatar app allows you to discover a myriad of Qatar's attractions from cultural heritage sites to modern art museums, World Cup 2022 stadiums to world-class malls, pristine beaches to wild nature reserves, a host of diverse eateries and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. The app allows you to take a panoramic tour of the country's iconic sites and landmarks using the 360 degree view facility; use the map feature to locate attractions and plan journey's; and read all about each attraction or point of interest and link directly to their websites, contact details, and information on getting there and away. What's more, you can 'right swipe' all of your favourite attractions to save them in a personalised shortlist, which can be handily split into categories to help you organise your trip.

The Technology

The new Visit Qatar mobile app uses innovative, cloud-based Adobe Experience Manager capabilities to deliver a personalised experience to its users. The application has the capability to utilise user preferences, in real-time, to provide more targeted and personalised recommendations. 

Using smart content the Qatar National Tourism Council hope that its new travel app will help Qatar deliver a superior visitor experience in accordance with the nation's desire to market the country as a must-see destination and its vision to expand its tourism industry significantly, and diversify the economy, by 2030. 

The app will be further developed over the coming year to incorporate even more user functions, including a festival and events calendar.

Getting Started

Many of us have been forced to cancel our holiday plans over the last year or so due to coronavirus restrictions on travel. However, with vaccinations providing a light at the end of the tunnel and an end to many travel restrictions, now is an excellent time to start planning your next vacation.
