Luxury, Relaxation and Aquatic Adventure: Qatar’s New Attraction
With spectacular views across the sparkling azure waters of the Persian Gulf and with access to over 3km of pristine golden sand, the Salwa Beach Resort is Qatar's latest, premier tourist destination. It promises to be the place to visit in 2021.
Partially opened at the end of December 2020, the new resort, owned by Hilton Hotels and Resorts, is located on Qatar's south-west coastline less than 100km and a just over an hour's drive from the capital city, Doha. It's remote and peaceful location on the edge of the desert not only lends the resort the air of an Arabian oasis, a place to escape and relax but also adds to the sense of adventure. And, if relaxation or adventure is what you're after, then the Salwa Beach Resort has it all…
The Resort
The new beach resort, set over 3 million square meters of coastal land, offers a host of luxury accommodation options from suites and hotel rooms, and rooms in an Arabian Village to lavish private beachside villas. The majority of rooms, opulently decorated in a typical Persian style, feature a terrace and sea views. Beachfront villas sport rooftop terraces with stunning vistas, gardens, private pools with outdoor showers, and direct access to the beach.
Guests to the resort also have a myriad of eateries to choose from. Private villa visitors can choose to eat in with villa dining or BBQ options available. Otherwise, guests can work their way through Arabian, Asian, Middle Eastern and Western menus, seafood, beach and poolside snacks, buffet breakfasts and afternoon teas. Each eatery offers a different environment for the discerning diner - a souk kitchen, a sumptuous Arabesque lobby cafe, surf shacks and underwater restaurant.
And, when it comes to activities, there is a wealth of choice. Guests can relax by the pool, sunbathe on the beach, take a walk along the marina, spend some 'me' time in the two-storey spa and health club, play basketball or tennis, or even catch up on some work at the business centre. The resort is primarily a family-friendly location and offers kids clubs, child-friendly menus, and other amenities families might need. Plus, for mums and dads who would still like to enjoy some adult time during their break, the hotel also offers babysitting services.
The addition of a world-class water and adventure park on-site makes this new venue a winning attraction with something on offer for everyone...
The Desert Falls Water and Adventure Park
The resort's spectacular Desert Falls Water and Adventure Park is a wonder to behold for old and young. The park offers eighteen different attractions and a cool fifty-six rides and slides from playful activities to exciting adrenaline-filled adventures.
Built as an oasis in a desert mountain environment with rivers and waterfalls running through the terrain, the park is essentially an aquatic adventure. The setting is filled with outdoor pools, rivers, rapids and slides, as well as watery activities located inside in a man-made mountain cave structure. Young children can play in several interactive pools with slides, playgrounds and a host of fun water activities. Older kids and adults can make use of the many adrenaline rides such as the Whizzard Mat Racer - a high-speed slide on rubber mats, the King Cobra - a twin-tube slide ride, Torrent River or the Spinning Rapids - fast-paced tube rides, the Super Bowl - a huge bowl for tube riding, the Family Abyss - a giant tunnel slide, or the Wave Pool or Surfing Dunes - venues for catching a wave or two. There is even a Dive Centre, centred around a sunken ship, and a Canyoning Centre, for those keen to combine rock climbing with water activities.
The park has two more tranquil pool areas for those with quieter interests, Falls Pool and Desert Rose Pool, which accommodates women and children only. For those who prefer dry land, the park offers a Go-Karting circuit, a kids adventure playground and a Laser Tag venue.
There’s More...
With so much choice already, the resort would seem to most to be complete. However, future additions to the grounds include a sports academy with indoor pool, sports courts, football pitches, gymnasium and kids area, and a new shopping mall.
And, for those in need of somewhere extravagant to host a party or an event, the resort boasts a beautiful, spacious ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,200 guests.
