Small but Fierce

Male peregrine is called a 'Tercel', which comes from the Latin word tertius meaning 'one-third'. This is because the male is typically 1/3 smaller than the female falcon.

The male weighs about 700 grams and has a wingspan measuring approximately 85 cm. The female weighs over a kilogram, and her wingspan is about 1 meter or more.
