Members of the Airforce

Falcons were fully-fledged members of the airforce during World War II.

During the Second World War, falcons were often used, by both sides, to intercept carrier pigeons relaying messages to and from enemy territory.

This isn't the first time falcons have been used by the military. Records of early warfare regularly mention the use of falcons or the idea of emulating their abilities. In the 5th Century, the Chinese used falcons to carry messages. Genghis Khan disguised his armies as falconers during the wars wreaked on Asia in the 12th Century. The falconet cannon used in the 17th Century was inspired by falcons, as was the F16 fighter jet in the 20th Century.
