Football and Camel Racing
The Paris Saint-Germain football squad competed in a camel race at the Al Shahaniya racecourse near Doha, as part of the Qatar Tour 2019.
The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) squad became the first football club in the world to take part in a traditional camel race. The PSG players followed alongside the racing camels in 4x4s for 4 km and at speeds of 40 kph. Each player controlled and encouraged their camel to the finish line via a walkie-talkie.
Of the two races held that day, Neymar Jr and Thomas Tuchel were the triumphant winners. The two winners each received cheques of €25,000 from the club’s official partner, Ooredoo. The hard-earned cash was donated to the Paris Saint-Germain Endowment fund.
